“Yellowjackets” breakout Sophie Thatcher and “Birds of Prey” and “Sharp Objects” star Chris Messina are set to lead the new film adaptation of iconic Stephen King short story “The Boogeyman” for 20th Century Studios and Hulu.

The short was one of twenty in King’s most famous short story collection “Night Shift” and follows a man who visits a psychiatrist and recounts how each of his three toddler children over the years was killed in their cribs by a sadistic presence that has been following him.

The new take follows a teenage girl and her little brother who find themselves plagued by a dark presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving and recently widowed father to pay attention before it’s too late.

Mark Heyman (“Black Swan”) penned the script with Akela Cooper (“Malignant”) and Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) also contributing.

Rob Savage (“Dashcam”) is set to direct while Shawn Levy, Dan Levine & Dan Cohen are producing. Filming begins next month in New Orleans ahead of a premiere on Hulu.
