Krasinski On Nichols-Helmed “Quiet Place 3”

Krasinski On Nichols Directed Quiet Place 3
Paramount Pictures

The first “A Quiet Place” film sets up a mythology, and the recent sequel expands on that with a better look at the world whilst still focused on the members of the central family at its heart.

Actor/filmmaker John Krasinski created this world but is stepping back as director for the next outing – instead, he hired celebrated filmmaker Jeff Nichols (“Take Shelter,” “Midnight Special”) to direct.

Speaking with The Empire Podcast, Krasinski expressed great appreciation for Nichols:

“Truly the only person I had in mind when asked whether I would hand this off was Jeff. I think he’s one of the best filmmakers, ‘Mud’ is one of my favorite movies, and so real and intimate. It’s exactly the sort of paints we’re painting within A Quiet Place – very organic characters you fall in love with.”

Krasinski teased he came up with the story “of the third one, the third instalment” which is what Nichols is directing. But he’s played it quiet regarding the status of this new film and whether it’s a spinoff or a third one with the Abbott family:

“Is it going to continue the Abbotts? Who knows! No, I will tell you that it is… I’m really excited about the third instalment because it’s going to do something that we haven’t done before.”

The Krasinski-directed “A Quiet Place Part II” is currently playing in cinemas and will arrive on Paramount+ on July 12th. The Nichols-directed next “Quiet Place” is due out in 2023.
