After over a decade of getting the finances together, the new animated film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s comedic short story “The Canterville Ghost” is finally in production.
The project sees the on-screen reunion of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry who worked together back in the 1980s on their own series “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” and later on the all-time comedy great “Blackadder”.
Producer Robert Chandler broke the news on Twitter, confirming the aim is to release the film late next year and confirm Fry & Laurie are still onboard nine years after they were first linked to the film.
“That Mitchell And Webb Look” co-writers Keiron Self and Giles New adapted the script for the story about an American family who moved to a castle haunted by the ghost of a dead English nobleman who killed his wife and was then walled in and starved to death by his wife’s brothers.
