Joby Harold (“Awake,” “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”) has been hired to pen the script for a live-action feature film adaptation of the iconic Disneyland ride Space Mountain with plans for a theatrical release.
The ride is an indoor roller coaster with a space-theme and became a fixture in the Tomorrowland section. The ride has no overarching theme or memorable ‘scenes’ allowing the writer fairly free reign for the project beyond it being set in the family adventure genre.
Harold will also produce with Tory Tunnell via their Safehouse Pictures label. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich from Rideback (“Aladdin”) will also produce. Harold is also writing the upcoming “The Flash” film and the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series at the Disney+ service.
