TNT has announced that its “Snowpiercer” series will return for its second season on January 25th, with both Sean Bean and Rowan Blanchard joining the main cast. In addition, the show’s first season will be available on HBO Max in January.
Bean takes on the role of Mr. Wilford, the visionary behind the perpetual engine ice train who rigidly divided the train’s sections by social class, provoking a war with passengers including Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) and Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs).
Blanchard plays Melanie’s daughter Alexandra, who was once thought dead but is in fact alive and serving as Wilford’s protégée.
Speaking with EW, showrunner Graeme Manson says the second season is wrapping filming at the moment and that Bean’s Mr. Wilford will be “dastardly and fun and very well-dressed”. As for Alexandra, he says: “The thing that we don’t know at the beginning of the season is what Wilford has done to her mind. How has Wilford turned her against Melanie?”
