Morrison Details Abandoned “Flash” Script

Famed comics writer Grant Morrison has shared how he and actor Ezra Miller teamed up last year to write their own draft of the script for “The Flash” film, teasing a version of the story that Warner Bros. Pictures have decided not to move forward with.

Talking with Collider, Morrison says their script “was pretty good” and would have been great “after a few drafts”. However the way studios work, things come and go and many others have all written a version of the film and so their version isn’t going ahead.

He adds that their version was “more like Back to the Future” than a traditional superhero movie, and it wasn’t a darker version as has previously been reported:

“I mean, elements of darkness were there and the material that they wanted us to use [was] the Flashpoint stuff. So, Ezra and I were actually trying to do something that was a bit more – like I say, it’s kind of like just a great science-fiction story. And if you don’t know [the comics], it would have made sense. But I have to say, I mean, I don’t want to talk about that, because somebody else has done their own work on it and I’m sure it will be great. And maybe, as I say this will leak out one day and people can judge.”

Christina Hodson (“Birds of Prey”) is currently slated to do the film’s script with Andy Muschietti on board to direct and Michael Keaton is in talks to star alongside Miller in the movie – reprising his iconic role as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The new film is slated for a June 3rd 2022 release.
