Quick News: Rings, Katie, Nobody, Savage, Marie

The Lord of the Rings
Elijah Wood made his last appearance as Frodo Baggins in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” in 2012, but now he’s commented on Amazon Studios’ “The Lord of the Rings” TV series and says he’s open to making a cameo should it make sense to the story.

He tells Indiewire: “If there was a world where that made sense and was organic to what they’re doing then yes. Look, any excuse to get to go to New Zealand to work on something I am absolutely there.”

When Katie Met Cassidy
HBO Max will develop a film adaptation of the celebratory queer romantic comedy novel “When Katie Met Cassidy” by Camille Perri. Perri will write the screenplay while Ben Pugh and Charlie Morrison will produce.

The story focuses on Katie Daniels, a successful 28-year-old lawyer living in New York who gets dumped by her fiance Paul, leaving her lost and devastated. Her life is turned upside down when she meets Cassidy Price, a sexy and self-assured woman. Their connection makes each of them question everything they thought they knew about sex and love. Malcolm & Marie
Zendaya and John David Washington have reportedly already finished production on “Malcolm & Marie,” a new film from writer-director Sam Levinson which was produced and shot entirely during the lockdown. The project is said to be “a fairly lean film in the same vein of ‘Marriage Story'”.

A crew of only a dozen people were brought to a remote 33 acre house in California to begin production. The cast and crew were able to quarantine themselves, follow all CDC recommendations, and film from June 17th to July 2nd – paying for the pre-production and production out of pocket.
