The Book of Vision
Carlo Hintermann’s English-language drama “The Book Of Vision” will open the 2020 edition of Venice Critics’ Week which runs alongside the Venice International Film Festival. Charles Dance and Lotte Verbeek in the project on which Terrence Malick served as an executive producer. The story focuses on the history of the doctor/patient relationship told from the perspective of a female medical student named Eva (Verbeek). [Source: Variety]
Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula
Cinemas in Singapore will re-open later this month and the Korean-made “Train to Busan” sequel “Peninsula” is expected to be among the first wide-release new title to play Singapore theaters. It is currently scheduled for a July 15th day-and-date release co-ordinated with the film’s premiere in South Korea. [Source: Variety]
Vienna Blood
“Vienna Blood,” the series adaptation of Frank Tallis’ novels, has been renewed for a second season of another three feature-length episodes produced by ZDF and ORF. In addition, BBC Two and PBS have again come aboard the drama series.
“Sherlock” writer Steve Thompson and Robert Dornhelm will write and direct respectively. Matthew Beard stars as Max Liebermann, the protege of Sigmund Freud, in the 1900s Vienna set story. When Liebermann comes into contact with Oskar Rheinhardt (Juergen Maurer), a detective struggling with a strange murder case, he is called to help him solve it. [Source: THR]
Civilizations
Anonymous Content and Paiva Studio are teaming for the ambitious series “Civilizations” based on Laurent Binet’s (“HHhH”) best-selling novel. The plan is to shoot in South America and Europe in several languages. The story offers a rewriting of global history in which Christopher Columbus never discovered America and the Incas prevail and come to Europe. Paiva Studio and Mediawan Rights have scored the rights. [Source: Variety]
