A new rumor has suggested that the iconic villain The Joker will appear in potential sequels to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” but not the upcoming first feature.
The Direct (via ComicBook.com) first reported the rumor, and several other outlets have since weighed in saying they’ve heard similar rumblings. All are saying that Reeves is planning for his Joker to appear in the second and third movies as one of several villains.
The character will reportedly only be referenced in the first installment which is expected to resume production in the UK shortly. The report follows on from rumors last week that Bane is being considered for the first sequel while Warners has also rejected the possibility of a Bane solo film (ala “Joker”).
The story of Reeves’ “The Batman” is set to explore the Dark Knight’s younger years and opens in cinemas on October 1st 2021.
