Cavill Superman To Be DCEU’s Hulk?

The other day came word that Henry Cavill was in talks to return to the DC film universe as Superman, albeit in a limited capacity. We know his return won’t be for a “Man of Steel” sequel, and no reshoots are planned for Zack Snyder’s new cut of “Justice League”.

So is it going to be a supporting role in “Shazam 2,” “Black Adam” or “Aquaman” instead? It’s not clear as yet but several reports have cropped up since which might go a little way to explaining just what he will be doing.

Variety reporter Justin Kroll got the ball rolling with a tweet saying: “Cavill’s return is only a cameo and would likely have him appearing in a film where he has previous ties with title character (AQUAMAN, SHAZAM). Sources say not for BLACK ADAM or WW. New MAN OF STEEL film still way off with no certainty Henry would return to star.”

Soon after, Deadline posted an article confirming Kroll’s tweet but leaves the door open for “Black Adam”. Today though, ComicBook.com has posted its own report which indicates a different story. According to their sources:

“Cavill’s Superman will operate in a similar capacity to Marvel’s use of Nick Fury and the Hulk, appearing in films for a supporting role or even smaller cameos. The future of Cavill’s Superman has not yet been fully decided, and it sounds like Warner Bros. and DC Comics are still figuring out where the character best fits in upcoming films.”

The site also indicates the new deal is part of the reason that Cavill appeared on director Zack Snyder’s live stream rewatch of “Man of Steel” last week. Whatever Cavill’s future in the role is, we should know relatively soon.
