Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Film Continues To Hold

Actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson were amongst the first celebrities to test positive for the coronavirus in the current pandemic, though as they have been chronicling on social media – both have made good recoveries.

Hanks was in Australia shooting Baz Luhrmann’s new Elvis Presley biopic which shut down due to Hanks’ condition. Luhrmann has now taken to social media to confirm production is halting indefinitely while Hanks continues to recover and while many productions around the world are on hiatus.

Sets will not be dismantled, rather the studio lot is being locked up and filming will resume when the time is right.

The movie will explore the life and music of Elvis through his complicated relationship with his manager Colonel Tom Parker. Austin Butler has scored the lead role as Elvis alongside Hanks as Parker and Olivia DeJonge as Presley’s only wife Priscilla.

The film remains on track for an October 1st 2021 release.
