Emergency Declaration
Song Kang-ho (“Parasite”), Lee Byung-hun (“I Saw the Devil”) and Jeon Do-yeon (“The Housemaid”) are all set to co-star in the Korean airborne disaster film “Emergency Declaration”.
Han Jae-rim (“The Face Reader”) directs the film in which an aircraft is forced to declare an emergency when an unprecedented terror incident occurs in-flight. The film is in pre-production with plans for a late 2020 release. [Source: Variety]
Farnsworth House
Elizabeth Debicki (“The Night Manager,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”) is stepping in to replace Maggie Gyllenhaal in the period drama “Farnsworth House” which Sony Pictures Classics is closing a deal to acquire. Richard Press (“Bill Cunningham New York”) pens and directs and filming will begin this spring or summer
Set in late 1940s Chicago, Debicki will play Dr. Edith Farnsworth whose ambitious project with the revolutionary Bauhaus architect Mies Van Der Rohe ()Ralph Fiennes) to build the first glass house led them into a passionate but tempestuous love affair. [Source: Deadline]
Beast
Morena Baccarin (“Deadpool,” “Gotham”) will star in Espen Sandberg’s survival thriller “Beast” based on Aaron W. Sala’s Blacklist script. The story follows a woman who survives a plane crash and is stranded on a seemingly deserted island in the South Pacific. She must break out of her victim mentality and reclaim her life. Sherryl Clark and Kenneth Huang are producing and shooting will begin in late March in New Zealand. [Source: Variety]
The Last Duel
Dame Harriet Walter (“Succession,” “Rocketman”) has joined Ridley Scott’s period revenge story “The Last Duel” based on Eric Jager’s novel. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Nicole Holofcener penned the script and filming is underway in Ireland and France.
Walter is due to play the mother of Damon’s de Carrouges, and mother-in-law to Jodie Comer’s Marguerite. The story follows two knights whose bond is tested by treachery and a young woman forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive. [Source: Deadline]
