The “Sonic the Hedgehog” film is on its way to a $55 million three-day and $65 million four-day opening at the Valentine’s Day-Presidents Day box office.
The film is expected to rake in $21 million on Friday alone (including $3 million in Thursday night previews), which is pacing ahead of expectations.
“Birds of Prey” is tipped to come in second for the four-day weekend with a $17-20 million second outing. “Bad Boys for Life” along with newcomers “The Photograph” and “Fantasy Island,” will battle it out for the remainder of the top five with each expected to debut in the $13-15 million range.
“Downhill” is on course for a sluggish $5-6 million four-day debut, while the re-release of Oscar-winner “Parasite” is expected to take in more than $4 million over the long holiday weekend – very good for a foreign language film already out on home video.
