Jharrel Jerome, who played the 16-year-old version of Kevin in Barry Jenkins’ acclaimed “Moonlight,” and acting veteran Holland Taylor have joined the cast of David E. Kelley’s “Mr. Mercedes” TV series based on the 2014 novel by Stephen King.
The drama follows a demented killer (Harry Treadaway) who taunts a retired police detective Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails.
This forces the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.
Jerome will play Jerome Robinson, a good-natured wise guy and high school student who does yard work for Hodges.
Taylor has been tapped to replace Ann-Margret in the role of the prickly, outspoken, self-serving Ida Silver who is the next-door neighbor of Hodges. Kelly Lynch also stars.
Jack Bender will direct and both he and Kelley will executive produce with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
