With “X-Men: Apocalypse,” many of the key cast hired in “X-Men: First Class” closed out their contracts for the superhero franchise. Were any of the key players to return, be it James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender or Jennifer Lawrence, new deals would have to be worked out.
With both the spin-off “X-Men: The New Mutants” and the more direct sequel “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” on the way, questions have arisen as to any returnees. One report suggested McAvoy would be involved in ‘New Mutants,’ but has since been shot down.
Now MTV News correspondent Joshua Horowitz has sent out a tweet saying he just spoke with Fassbender for a podcast coming later this week. He says: “Bet big on him appearing in DARK PHOENIX but not NEW MUTANTS.”
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is expected to begin filming this summer in Montreal for a planned November 2nd 2018 release. “New Mutants” kicks off shortly ahead of an April 13th 2018 release.
