Many of the complaints about “X-Men: Apocalypse” tied to the film using bombast and spectacle over any actual story arc or character development.
Tye Sheridan, who starred as Scott Summers (a.k.a. Cyclops) in the film, says the upcoming follow-up “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is focused much more on drama this time out. Speaking with The Wrap, he says:
“Jean goes crazy in the movie. Well, Cyclops doesn’t think she’s going crazy – Cyclops just thinks she’s gotta work some stuff out. It’s interesting, the drama in the movie. We treated this movie as much more of a drama versus a superhero film.”
The comment follows on from Jennifer Lawrence back in December who says that though there’s some great action scenes and they’re even in orbit early in the movie, what’s exciting with this one is “emotionally all these characters are taking the biggest, most extreme dives than they have in the whole series”.
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” hits cinemas on November 2nd.
