Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage and Tiffany Haddish are all reportedly being sought to lead the film adaptation of “Spamalot,” the 2005 stage musical based on the 1975 cult comedy classic “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” at 20th Century Fox.
The story follows King Arthur as he embarks upon his quest to find the eponymous item with his Knights of the Round Table. The story adds a key character with Lady of the Lake – a diva who gives Arthur his sword Excalibur and sings her own song about not having a bigger role in the musical.
That Hashtag Show broke the report saying Cumberbatch is being sought for Arthur, Dinklage for his trusty page Patsy, and Haddish for the Lady of the Lake. Eric Idle is writing the script for the Casey Nicholaw-directed film which begins shooting next Summer.
