Logie winner Aaron Jeffery (“Wentworth,” “McLeod’s Daughters”) has been confirmed to be playing Mark ‘Chopper’ Read in “Underbelly Files: Chopper,” a new mini-series based around the famed Australian hitman.
Then TV comedian Eric Bana and budding filmmaker Andrew Dominik both launched their successful film careers in 2000 with the highly acclaimed film based on the story of the notorious gangster who cut a swathe through the nation’s criminal underworld from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Additionally, two-time Logie Award winner Michael Caton will play Chopper’s father, Keith, in the mini-series which begins production in Melbourne in July.
Jeffery has starred in supporting roles in two previous “Underbelly” series. That franchise has been off the air for four years with it only now coming back and will be produced by Screentime for the Nine Network,
