Netflix has premiered the trailer for “Athena” filmmaker Romain Gavras’s new feature “Sacrifice”.
Evans plays a fading movie star who attends a high-end environmental charity gala trying to get back in the spotlight.
He’s quickly upstaged when he and two other guests are taken hostage by Joan (Taylor-Joy) and her radical followers, a violent group of radicals on a mystical quest to fulfil a prophecy.
They believe that a volcanic event will cleanse the planet and the trio will make good sacrifices to prevent an extinction-level event.
Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, John Malkovich and Salma Hayek Pinault also star in the film which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival to poor reviews.
Gavras co-wrote the scirpt with Will Arbery (“Succession”), and the film finally hits the streamer on October 16th.
