Following their success together with “Yellowstone,” it comes as little surprise that Paramount Network are seeking to do more work with “Hell or High Water” scribe and “Wind River” director Taylor Sheridan.
The cable channel has ordered the scripted drama “Mayor of Kingstown” from Sheridan. The story is set in a small Michigan town where the only industry remaining are federal, state, and private prisons.
The action follows the McClusky family – the power brokers between the police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians – in a city completely dependent on the penal system. Sheridan, Hugh Dillon and David Glasser will executive produce.
The network has also renewed Sheridan’s unscripted series “The Last Cowboy” for a second season and will bring back “Yellowstone” for a third season this year with former “Lost” regular Josh Holloway joining the cast.
“Yellowstone” often scores five million total viewers in delayed viewing, making it one of the most-watched shows on cable.
