“Rin Tin Tin” Revived As ‘Canine John Wick’

Rin Tin Tin Revived As Canine John Wick

Warner Bros. Pictures is setting up a revival of the “Rin Tin Tin” franchise, the character being a German Shepherd who was once credited with saving the studio from bankruptcy in the 1920s during the Silent Era of films.

The heroic hound, who died in 1932, appeared as the hero in twenty-seven films and the plan here is to reinvent Rin Tin Tin as a modern action star, effectively “the John Wick of dogs”. In this live-action feature, he’ll be an elite military dog on a covert mission to prevent a large scale attack.

Matt Lieberman (“Scoob!,” “The Addams Family,” “Playing with Fire”) has been hired to pen the script while Andrew Lazar and rights holders Sasha Jenson and Jeff Miller will produce.
