Reynolds: Don’t Expect “Deadpool 4” Soon

Marvel

Recently, a rumour surfaced that Marvel Studios was considering another “Deadpool” film as its first theatrical release after “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

It began in January with a report that actor/writer/producer Ryan Reynolds was already writing the next film. Then the other week came one suggesting the film was being primed as the first major MCU release after “Avengers: Secret Wars” in late 2027.

If that’s true, it would mean the film would have to be in production by either the end of this year or early next year. However, according to Reynolds, that’s not likely to happen even as he is helping out Marvel in other ways.

Speaking with Collider, Reynolds was asked if he could share anything about Deadpool’s MCU return. He says:

“I’ve talked to Marvel off and on, always. We have a really great relationship, you know? It’s always a conversation. I’m always just looking to be additive and help on anything, even if it’s not a movie I’m in. And I’m always writing. I mean, it’s how I kind of get it out of my system. I love writing.

That character and that world is one in which anything is possible, and that in and of itself allows for so much freedom and storytelling. I have a few things written that I love. I don’t know. We’ll figure out when the time is right. I’m not in any huge rush right now to do anything.”

He then adds that he firmly believes Deadpool works best “on both scarcity and surprise” and that means “jumping right back into it full on right now is probably something I’m not going to do”.
