“Spaceballs” and “Ghostbusters” actor Rick Moranis, who has largely been retired from Hollywood for two decades, has now reportedly closed his deal to star in the new film “Shrunk” at Disney Pictures.
The film is a follow-up to 1989’s “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and its two sequels, and sees Moranis return as Wayne Szalinski. In the new take, Josh Gad plays his grown up son who is aspiring to be a great scientist like his father, and accidentally shrinks his kids just like his dad did.
Originally planning to be a Disney+ project, it will now be made for a theatrical release and has original ‘Honey’ and “Captain America: The First Avenger” helmer Joe Johnston directing. Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing with Todd Rosenberg writing the screenplay.
