SNL alum Kristen Wiig has had to depart an untitled comedy series at Apple which she was attached to star in and executive produce.
The series is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld’s short story collection “You Think It, I’ll Say It” and is currently on hold as Apple and the producers evaluate their options. Apple closed a deal for a straight-to-series order to the comedy in January.
Wiig’s departure is said to be due to a scheduling conflict with “Wonder Woman 1984,” the upcoming DC Comics sequel in which she plays the villain Cheetah. Wiig signed onto the Patty Jenkins-directed film in March.
Colleen McGuinness (“30 Rock”) remains on the series as showrunner while Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are executive producers. Apple is said to be still interested in pursuing the series.
