A truly massive cast is assembling for “The Help” director Tate Taylor’s upcoming comedy-drama “Breaking News In Yuba County”.
Allison Janney, Mila Kunis, Regina Hall, Awkwafina, Samira Wiley, Bridget Everett, Jimmi Simpson and Keong Sim are all set to star in the film while Juliette Lewis, Ellen Barkin and Wanda Sykes are in advanced negotiations to join.
Amanda Idoko penned the script in which Janney plays a pencil pusher who catches her husband in bed with another woman, which causes him to die of a heart attack. She buries his body and takes advantage of the growing celebrity status that comes from having a missing husband.
However, she soon finds herself in over her head, dodging cops and criminals, all while trying to hide the truth, especially from her local news anchor half-sister (Kunis) and a determined local police detective (Hall).
Laura Dern was previously aboard but had to drop off for scheduling reasons. Additional names are also expected to be added soon and filming is due to get underway in Mississippi next month. Taylor, Jake Gyllenhaal, Riva Marker and Franklin Leonard will produce.
