Julianne Moore, Kyle MacLachlan, Marthe Keller, KiKi Layne, Mia Goth and Alba Rohrwacher have all starred in a 35-minute short which has been directed by “Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspiria” helmer Luca Guadagnino.
Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of the Valentino fashion house, worked with Guadagnino on the short in which Moore plays Francesca, an Italian-American writer who lives in New York and must return to her childhood home of Rome to retrieve her ageing painter mother (Keller and Goth play the role at different ages).
MacLachlan plays all the male roles in the film which will have multiple storylines covering the entire relationship. Despite Piccioli’s presence, this will NOT be a Valentino commercial but rather an arthouse film where haute couture becomes part of the narrative. The plan is to play the movie at an important film festival.
Oscar-winner Ryuichi Sakamoto composed the score while “Vinyl” writer Michael Mitnik penned the script. Cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom shot the short film on 35mm film.
