The first official photos for Jason Reitman’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” have gone online as part of a feature piece in Vanity Fair. The shots appear to be screen captures from the film’s first trailer which has now been confirmed to be launching on Monday.
As previously reported, the new film will focus on a family with Carrie Coon as the single mother of two kids – a science-obsessed daughter (Mckenna Grace) and gearhead son (Finn Wolfhard) while Paul Rudd plays their school teacher Mr. Grooberson.
Said family moves to a small town in Oklahoma after inheriting property from Coon’s character’s father whom she didn’t know. When they arrive they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters. Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.
Reitman confirms the new adventure that connects back to “the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984,” the bizarre incident in which the ancient Sumerian God known as Gozer came back to life in the form of a giant marshmallow man.
Oliver Cooper and Bokeem Woodbine also star whilst original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will all appear in the film which opens July 10th 2020.
