Gerard Butler retained his tiara at the box-office during the very quiet Labor Day holiday weekend as Lionsgate and Millennium’s “Angel Has Fallen” held the top spot with a further $11.5 million for the three day and is expected to close out with $14.4 million for the four-day holiday.
‘Angel’ has accumulated $43.6 million so far. “Good Boys” held steady in second place with $9.1 million over the weekend for an estimated $11.5 million Labor Day weekend. Blumhouse Tilt released the David Oyelowo-led supernatural thriller “Don’t Let Go” debuted in a modest theatrical run, taking in a soft $2.4 million and coming in at Number 14.
The ‘Angel’ win was expected as there were no new nationwide releases from a major studio for the holiday. With the fourth month ‘Summer’ box-office stretch over, Hollywood is counting up its final tally with $4.3 billion overall earned at the box-office – a 2% decline from last year and 6.3% decline for the year to date.
