The full cast for Ava DuVernay’s four-part Netflix narrative mini-series “Central Park Five” has been revealed.
Chris Chalk (“Gotham”) will play adult Yuself Salaam, newcomer Freddy Miyares is adult Raymond Santana, and newcomer Justin Cunningham is adult Kevin Richardson. The trio join the previously cast Joven Adepo as adult Antron McCray and Jharrel Jerome as both the young and adult version of Korey Wise.
Ethan Herisse (“Miss Virginia”) will play the young Yusef Salaam, Marquis Rodriguez (“Chicago Fire”) the young Raymond Santana, newcomer Asante Black as the young Kevin Richardson, and Jr. Caleel Harris (“Goosebumps 2”) as the young Antron McCray.
DuVernay will write and direct the project about the real-life teens and adults at the center of the true story Central Park Five case in which five teenagers of color were convicted of a rape they did not commit. The series will span from Spring 1989 to their exoneration in 2014.
Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Niecy Nash, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake, and Storm Reid also star in the series which begins filming this week in New York City.
“Central Park Five” will be screened on Netflix sometime in 2019.
