Samuel L. Jackson is getting his own “John Wick” it seems. The famed actor has been set to play Morris Stokes, a well-reknowned former hitman for a mob boss named Easy-A, in a currently untitled thriller film from “Focus” directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.
Stokes is thrust back into action when his nephew, Leslie, makes a terrible mistake. Rather than put a bullet in the kid’s head, Stokes decides to help him recover the money and teach him important life lessons along the way. Untitled Baz Luhrmann Film
Rufus Sewell (“Dark City,” “Judy”) is set to play Vernon Presley, father of legendary rock star Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), in Baz Luhrmann’s new film which will explore the life and music of Elvis through his complicated relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). Maggie Gyllenhaal and Olivia DeJonge also stars and filming begins shortly in Queensland, Australia ahead of an October 2021 release. [Source: Variety]
Zoe Saldana has scored a leading role in national champion fencer and filmmaker Jasmine McGlade’s sports drama “Fencer”. Casey Affleck will produce and was previously linked to co-star, but that’s no longer clear.
The story is set in the competitive world of fencing and follows Mae (Saldana), an ambitious athlete facing personal demons and childhood rivals as she vies for a spot in the U.S. Olympic team. [Source: THR]
Former “Highlander” series star Adrian Paul will join Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista in the second season of the Apple TV+ series “See” which hails from “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight and director Francis Lawrence.
