Two Brothers Pictures (“Fleabag,” “Baptiste,” “The Assassin”) and indie game developer Rebellion are developing a TV series adaptation of the acclaimed British video game “Atomfall”.
The title won Best British Game at this month’s BAFTA Game Awards, and over 3.7 million players have explored it since it launched last year.
A very UK take on the post‑apocalyptic genre, Atomfall leans heavily into classic British sci‑fi and also draws on folk horror, along with the real‑life disaster at the Windscale nuclear plant in 1957.
Blending classic British sci‑fi and folk horror, the story is set within England’s Lake District, which has been walled off and turned into a militarized Quarantine Zone following a nuclear incident.
The outside world has seemingly continued as normal, but life within the zone has deteriorated into something far stranger and players take on the role of a protagonist who awakens there with no memory of how they arrived.
Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Harry and Jack Williams will pen the TV series version, which is a co-production between the two companies. Alex Mercer and Ben Smith will executive produce.
