Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned the film rights to Brit Bennett’s debut novel “The Mothers” with “Scandal” star Kerry Washington slated to produce.
The story centers on a big secret that rocks the lives of those in a small black community in a small suburban Southern California town.
The action centers on Nadia, a teen who, while grieving after her mother’s suicide, starts a relationship with the pastor’s son and becomes pregnant by him.
Bennett will write the script while Natalie Krinsky will produce.
