Lasse Hallstrom (“Dear John,” “The Cider House Rules”) has signed on to direct the coming-of-age story “Tom’s Dad” for Point Blank Productions and Infinitum Nihil says Variety.
Set in Las Vegas 1962, the story follows a successful character film actor and comedy vaudevillian nightclub performer at a crossroads because the changing style of comedy is rendering him obsolete.
Things become even more complicated by the arrival of his long-estranged young son. Patrick Dempsey stars while Martin Casella penned the script.
Hallstrom is still attached to direct “The Danish Girl” and “Salmon Fishing in Yemen.”
