Andy Lau and Gong Li will star in a $5 million Chinese remake of Nancy Meyers’ romantic comedy “What Women Want” says The Hollywood Reporter.
Gong, who beat out Fan Bingbing for the role, will play the creative director at a Beijing advertising firm run by a chauvinistic (and mind-reading) Lau.
Chen Daming directs from a script he adapted from Meyers’ 2000 film which starred Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt.
Shooting kicks off this week in the central business district of Beijing for release next February.
