U.S. cable network Animal Planet has optioned Joshua Ortega and Digger Mesch’s graphic novel “The Other Dead” and plan to develop it as a scripted series.
The story is set in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina and revolves around a world of undead animals and unrelenting storms.
In a statement, Animal Planet exec VP Rick Holzman says: “This is an intriguing choice for Animal Planet as the network further branches out into different, dynamic genres.”
A 2016 series premiere is being targeted.
