Chris Rock is reportedly in serious talks to host the 88th Academy Awards with an official announcement expected shortly. Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has declined to comment.
Rock previously hosted the Oscars in 2005 and has worked with new Oscar co-producer Reginald Hudlin who helmed the pilot of the comedy series “Everybody Hates Chris” which Rock produced. Rock’s previous stint hosting the Oscars was relatively well-received.
Hudlin and David Hill take over the creative reigns following the show’s 2015 telecast which dropped 16% in ratings from the previous year. The 2016 Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 28th 2016.
UPDATE: AMPAS has confirmed that Chris Rock is definitely onboard and set to host.
