Hot on the heels of Jennifer Lawrence’s dropping out, it seems filmmaker Richard Linklater has also exited the romantic dramedy “The Rosie Project” at Tri-Star Pictures.
An adaptation of the book by Graeme Simsion, the story follows a socially inept genetics professor who comes with a survey to find the perfect mate – a method that goes awry when he meets a woman whom he is fascinated by but has the opposite qualities he should be looking for.
‘Rosie’ was developed as a Lawrence vehicle, and Linklater came on board for a chance to work with the actress. Lawrence’s departure is said to be due to scheduling, and both actress and director left the project Monday. The studio still considers it a priority though and will look for a new filmmaker and star immediately.
