CBS is planning to bring iconic detective Nancy Drew back to television with both Joan Rater and Tony Phelan (“Grey’s Anatomy”) set to produce a small screen reboot of the title.
The new show would be a contemporary take on the character from the iconic book series. In this incarnation Drew is a thirtysomething detective for the NYPD who investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills.
The books, which were penned over seven decades by various writers, have already spawned a 1970s ABC series, several 1930s movies and a 2007 film in which Emma Roberts took on the role. Dan Jinks, Rater and Phelan will executive produce the new series.
