The Weinstein Company is developing a heavily serialized TV series adaptation of Stephen King’s acclaimed novella “The Mist”. Christian Torpe (“Rita”) is penning the new take which reportedly has King’s blessing.
Frank Darabont helmed a 2007 film adaptation that stuck very close to the original work until the last five minutes when it ditched the novella’s open and hopeful ending for a very dark and different take. That ending divided audiences and fans.
The series will reportedly opt for a new story involving the seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town but contains psychological terrors and otherworldly creatures. The town’s residents must face their darkest demons and ultimately each other.
