Timed with Hobbit Day, multiple photos have been released from the set of the currently in-production “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum”.
The shot appears to offer a first look at Elijah Wood reprising his iconic role as Frodo Baggins, though it shows only the actor in costume from behind.
The other newly released set photos show elements of the Shire, including extras dressed as Hobbits along with various houses.
Wood is among several actors returning from the previous films, including Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Gollum, and Lee Pace as Thranduil, while they’re all joined by Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan and Leo Woodall
Set between the trilogies, the story will follow Aragorn and Gandalf as they search for Gollum – tracking him down to prevent Sauron from discovering the location of the One Ring.
Filming is currently underway in New Zealand ahead of a December 17th 2027 release.
