Hasbro and Working Title are reportedly developing a film based on the cult British toyline “Action Man”.
The project is reportedly being developed by “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” executive producer Simon Hatt, “X-Men ’97” writer Anthony Sellitti, and “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” producer Jeremy Latcham.
Created in 1966 by toy maker Palitoy as an officially licensed knock-off of “G.I. Joe” for non-American markets, the creation initially was very similar in look and style to G.I. Joe.
Then, the company opted to lean into its Britishness, reinventing itself in the 1990s as a modern adventurer complete with arch-enemies like Dr. X and Professor Gangrene. A tie-in “Action Man” animated series was also made.
The franchise was revived again in the 2010s with a four-issue limited comic book series from IDW.
Hatt pulled in some stunt men to create a pre-vis fight to helped sell the action/comedy film to Hasbro and Working Title.
