It has been a surprisingly busy day or so for big rumours in the comic book movie world.
It began when scooper John Campea claimed that James Gunn’s DCU has cast its Batman, with an actor onboard well ahead of the planned “The Brave and the Bold” movie.
Campea says: “It’s not a name I would have guessed,” but he’d verified it with several well-positioned sources. In the wake of that, English actor Tom Brittney’s name began to circulate on social media.
If the name sounds familiar, it should. The “Grantchester” star, currently appearing in “The Westies” and the upcoming “Fall 2: Deadpoint,” was one of three finalists for Gunn’s “Superman” before losing it to David Corenswet.
Nic Hoult was the third with that actor ultimately playing Lex Luthor. Gunn, meanwhile, publicly called Brittney: “truly one of my favourite actors, incredibly talented guy”
Next up, The Wrap is reporting that DC Studios is reportedly prioritising the “Deathstroke and Bane” movie as likely the next live-action film to be released after “Man of Tomorrow”. However, no director or cast is yet in place.
Over at The Cosmic Circus, they’ve got an update on Marvel’s post-Secret Wars slate and claims the priorities are – “Black Panther 3,” “Shang-Chi 2,” “Spider-Man 5,” “X-Men,” “Thunderbolts 2,” “Blade,” “Midnight Sons” and the next “Avengers” while “Doctor Strange 3 ” has been put on a backburner.
The third “Black Panther” is expected to put the focus on T’Challa’s son and be a “coming-of-age story, with a heavy emphasis on legacy”.
