Actress Daveigh Chase Has Died

Daveigh Chase, the actress best known for her work in “The Ring,” “Donnie Darko” and the original animated “Lilo and Stitch,” has died. She was just 35.

Chase’s boyfriend Roy Hernandez announced the news via TMZ. Chase reportedly passed away yesterday following a battle with meningitis.

Chase had her breakout role at age 10 when she played the young Samantha Darko in “Donnie Darko”. The following year she voiced Lilo Pelekai in Disney’s “Lilo and Stitch” animated film.

She maintained that character across 65 episodes of Lilo & Stitch: The Series as well as the follow-up films “Stitch! The Movie” and “Leroy & Stitch”.

Also in 2002, she voiced the lead role of Chihiro in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated classic “Spirited Away”.

The same year she played the ghostly Samara Morgan in Gore Verbinski’s “The Ring”.

Other TV work included a major role in HBO series “Big Love” along with guest spots on shows like “ER,” “Charmed,” “CSI,” “Cold Case,” “Without a Trace” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
