Tony Stark Nearly Killed Thanos In ‘Infinity War’

Marvel

Attending a recent screening of “Captain America: Civil War”, Joe and Anthony Russo finally confirmed a very long-standing rumour about their original plans for “Avengers: Infinity War”.

That rumour suggested that Josh Brolin’s Thanos was killed by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man in the cliffhanger film and not the subsequent “Avengers: Endgame”.

Of course, that didn’t happen, with Thanos proving victorious in ‘Infinity War’ and wiping out half the universe. He eventually got his comeuppance at the hands of Tony at the end of ‘Endgame’.

Responding to a question at the screening, Joe Russo says (via CBR):

“This happens a lot in these rooms, right? We try to…I’m feeling the heat now. We try to investigate. We try to investigate all angles, right? Everything’s up for grabs. We always say, ‘Best idea wins.’ And a lot of the [time] you gotta stretch…We have to stretch the taffy a little bit, pull the taffy a little bit, stretch it, see where it goes.

There was a moment where we thought, ‘They’re not expecting it. This could be the best place to possibly do it.’ But then we’d have to figure out how he could potentially still participate in the next movie. And then we went, ‘F*** it, let’s just do it in the next movie.’”

The Russos have been reportedly doing reshoots recently on “Avengers: Doomsday” and are gearing up to shoot “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

A poorly pixelated and apparently leaked clip from ‘Doomsday’ hit social media on the weekend, but as Disney and Marvel haven’t bothered with copyright takedowns it has been widely dismissed as an AI fake.
