“Heat 2” Targets 7-Month Shoot This Fall

Warner Bros. Pictures

A new report from scooper DanielRPK has posted a revealing casting call for filmmaker Michael Mann’s highly anticipated sequel to 1995’s “Heat”.

The casting call indicates the project is looking for a ‘young Danny Trejo’ for the movie, presumably for prequel scenes involving his Gilbert Trejo character.

The casting call also reportedly indicates that filming is slated to run from September 2026 through until March 2027 – a seven-month production.

At present, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke have all been rumoured for the project, but officially, no one has been announced yet for the film.

The globe-trotting production is expected to take place in Los Angeles, Chicago, Paraguay, and Singapore, with the Los Angeles-led portion lasting around 77 days.

83-year-old Mann penned a prequel-sequel hybrid novel, co-written with Meg Gardiner, back in 2022, which serves as the source material here.
