A sequel to 2025’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” could reportedly begin filming as early as this Fall according to scooper DanielRPK.
The film, which would be the fifth in the ‘World’ series and the eighth overall in the “Jurassic” franchise, has still not been officially confirmed as yet. Producer Frank Marshall reportedly teased during ‘Rebirth’ promotional rounds that the ‘door is open’ though for more.
It was first reported on back in November, at the time it was said the studio is targeting a June 2028 release and would bring back director Gareth Edwards along with the core trio of actors – Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid.
In February, a fansite found multiple domain names had been acquired, hinting at a potential title – “Jurassic World: Liberation” – though it could simply be a placeholder name.
Edwards famously came aboard ‘Rebirth’ very late in the process, essentially having to film Koepp’s script as is and meet set dates. Despite those limitations, the title became the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2025, grossing over $869 million worldwide against a budget of around $200 million and was nominated for a VFX Oscar.
If this is going forward, then “The Creator” and “Godzilla” (2014) helmer Edwards would likely be involved from the start, which could potentially allow for something quite different.
