David Oyelowo (“Selma”), Hayley Atwell (“Agent Carter”), Jack Huston (“Boardwalk Empire”) and Tomer Capone (“The Boys”) are among the stars set for major roles in a new six-part adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic 18th-century adventure novel “Treasure Island”.

The project is dubbed a “bold, high-stakes coming-of-age adventure series for a new generation,” with Tom Sweet (“Childhood of a Leader”) set to play the lead role of teenager Jim Hawkins.

When Hawkins gets his hands on a legendary treasure map, the clever and decisive actions of his mother Bess Hawkins (Atwell) leave him holding valuable knowledge that puts both of their lives in danger.

Sailing aboard The Hispaniola, Jim and Bess are caught between the charming, terrifying pirate Long John Silver (Oyelowo), and the debonair, duplicitous British agent Aaron Graham (Huston).

Jim must grow up fast as he and his mother fight for survival on a voyage where alliances shift, secrets multiply and peril closes in from all sides. Capone will play Billy Bones.

Production has already begun on the project which will premiere on MGM+ in the US and on Paramount+ in the UK.
