Hot on the heels of his acclaimed turn in Disney and Marvel’s “Wonder Man,” British acting legend Sir Ben Kingsley has reportedly signed on for the fourth “Sonic the Hedgehog” film at Paramount Pictures.
The Insneider broke the story, but there’s no indication of what his role will be or if it will be an onscreen human part or simply a voice-over element.
If the latter, it has already been theorised that he’ll be playing the voice of Metal Sonic, the murderous robotic antithesis of our leading character. Multiple versions of the character were included in the post-credits scene of the third film.
As reported yesterday, production is now underway on the new film with Kristen Bell joining the cast as the voice of the pink hedgehog character Amy Rose.
Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles are all expected to return.
Beyond that, it’s not clear which actors will be back. Previous films include Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow, Jim Carrey as the villainous Dr. Robotnik, Lee Majdoub as his devout assistant Agent Stone, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Sonic’s adopted family.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 4” is set for a March 19th 2027 release.
