Former Supergirl Joins Flanagan’s “Exorcist”

Universal Pictures

Sasha Calle, who played Supergirl in 2023’s “The Flash” film, has joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s “The Exorcist” film at Universal Pictures.

Calle, who most recently starred in Joe Carnahan’s “The Rip” and will shortly be seen in the second season of Apple TV’s “Sugar,” joins a cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane.

Details of her character are under wraps, as is the film’s general story which will reportedly be a fresh take on the franchise with no links to the poorly received “The Exorcist: Believer”.

Flanagan pens, directs and will also produce alongside David Robinson and Jason Blum. Filming will take place in New York City, with Jupe telling Variety the other day that he begins filming in the next few days.

The project doesn’t have an official title at present. Johansson is expected to shoot this, then jump over to “The Batman: Part II” and then get to work on a “Jurassic World: Rebirth” follow-up. Flanagan meanwhile is currently in post-production on his “Carrie” TV series for Amazon.

The new “The Exorcist” is slated to hit cinemas on March 12th 2027.
