Black Bear has announced that Guy Ritchie’s action film “In the Grey,” which teams Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal, will be released in cinemas on April 10th this year.
The news comes over a year after Lionsgate originally had the film slated for a January 17th 2025 release, and then pulled the title from the calendar altogether. Black Bear is now handling domestic distribution.
Eiza González, Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike co-star in the film about a covert operative group on a mission to recover a billion-dollar fortune that was stolen by a ruthless despot.
A high-stakes heist escalates into a global conflict involving deception and survival. Despite the serious-sounding premise, the film is said to contain Ritchie’s usual knack for comedy.
That’s not the only date announcement today. Peter Farrelly’s “I Play Rocky,” a biopic about the origin of the Rocky Balboa character and actor Sylvester Stallone’s struggles to get the film made, has a new release date.
The title will now open in limited release on November 13th ahead of a wide release on November 20th. The timing will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original “Rocky” which released November 21st 1976,
Anthony Ippolito plays the young Stallone with “Green Book” helmer Farrelly directing from a script by Peter Gamble. Also starring are Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, and Stephan James as Carl Weathers.
